Notes - Family data says that she was sister to
a herb doctor
a translator of the NT into Gaelic
a teacher to the Russian Royal Family (another version says "Prussian")
Note this might apply to Elizabeth DEWAR, rather than Catherine.
The Scottish Bible Society says this:
**************
The New Testament was first translated into Scottish Gaelic by Rev James Stuart, minister of Killin, and published in 1767 - barely 20 years after the battle of Culloden. His son John, minister of Luss, was the main translator of the Old Testament, completed in 1801.
**************
I can find no evidence of any McNaughtan in connection with the Gaelic bible, around the time of this family but it is unlikely I will find people who undertook a minor role. Of course it might be there is a more distant relationship between Catherine and Rev James Stewart.
The other family connections are even more difficult to evidence.
